Create Your First Project

Set up your first Vortyk project with a name, location, and GPS coordinates in under a minute.

Last updated: April 18, 2026

Step 1: Click "New Project"

From your dashboard, click the New Project button.

Step 2: Enter a project name

Give your project a clear, descriptive name. This name appears on reports and share links, so use something your client would recognize.

Good examples:

  • "123 Main St. Roof Inspection"
  • "Riverside Bridge. Environmental Assessment"
  • "Unit 4B. Move-Out Condition Report"

Step 3: Set the project location

Start typing an address in the location field. Vortyk uses Google Places autocomplete to find the exact address and fill in GPS coordinates automatically.

The location data serves two purposes:

  • Maps. Your project appears on the global project map, making it easy to find among dozens of jobs.
  • Reports. The formatted address is included in your report metadata.

If your job site doesn't have a street address (e.g., a remote utility pole or undeveloped lot), you can type a nearby landmark or cross street. The GPS coordinates will still be captured.

Step 4: Your project is ready

After clicking Create, you'll land on your project dashboard. Here you'll see:

  • Surveys. Where your photos are organized (empty for now).
  • Statistics. Photo count, survey count, and report count.
  • Map. The project location pin on an interactive map.
• Share links. Client sharing options (you'll set these up later).

Next step

Your project is set up. Now create your first survey to start organizing photos.
